Overview

300M is a vacuum melted low alloy steel with the inclusion of vanadium and a higher silicon composition. Considered to be a modified 4340 steel possessing high hardenability and strength with good ductility, toughness, fatigue strength and resilience. Where fracture toughness and impact strength are crucial, 300M is a great choice. 300M alloy is used primarily in the 270/300 ksi (1862/2068) tensile strength range for aircraft landing gears, flap tracks, airframe parts, missile components and other structural applications.
